About the Author:

Gunasegaran or Guna, as he is known, incorporated Solar Energy (UK) Limited to contribute towards making alternative technologies, using renewable energy sources, both practical and cost effective. These are the solutions to addressing the current global concerns related to environmental pollution, global warming and climate changes.

Before 1972, while at school, Guna developed an electric car that was later converted to be powered by a 50 cc motorcycle engine. The Malaysian Straits Times featured an articled titled “Wizard of Junk” after he built a fully functional “car” out of a range of discarded lawn mover, motorcycle and car parts on a shoe string budget of 15 Malaysian Ringgit, equivalent to £2.

Between 1975 and 1979, Guna secured his BSc (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering and MSc in Engineering Production and Management in the UK.

Whilst a Teaching Company Associate at Warwick University between 1979 and 1982, Guna developed the forerunner of the computer-aided Enterprise Resource Planning system (ERP) at the Freight Rover arm of BL Cars. The project, with computer-aided stock management, Just-in-Time purchasing and optimal production scheduling enabled Freight Rover to reduce its inventory holding cost by £1.22 million while ensuring minimal production stoppages due to material stock-outs.

Between 1983 and 1986, whilst lecturing in Supervisory Management in Singapore, Guna authored his book “First Steps Towards Computing” that was published by Heinemann Publications in 1986

Guna worked in several organizations in the UK for the 10 years from 1986 to 1996. During this period, to keep up-to-date with the rapid evolution of Information Technology, he secured his MSc in Business Information Systems.

Since 1996, he has been the Senior Analyst at the Tower Hamlets College in London where he develops and trains staff on various computer-aided information management systems. Currently, he has finished his PhD thesis in Employee Relationship Planning (ERPII) aimed at improving employer-employee relationships to improve corporate productivity .

The aim of writing this book is to raise public awareness of the changes in personal attitudes and human activities that can contribute to addressing the rapidly deteriorating global environmental conditions. The objective is to propose solutions that may motivate the global community to unite and collaborate to Safe Our Selves (SOS).
